EMG’s PRIME 1.4 Deployment in Egypt
El Sewedy EMG successfully championed a modular solution with PRIME PLC in Egypt’s 1st large-scale Smart Metering Project and was allocated three key deployment areas (in Cairo, Menya & Assyout) totaling 63,000 Smart meters.
The scope of the end-to-end AMI Pilot Project commissioned by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) includes the supply and installation of 7 different types of modular Smart Meters, DCUs, HES, as well as three years of operation and management of the system. The project will serve prepaid as well as postpaid customers, and is currently in its pilot phase and the full roll-out of the meters is expected to be complete within 2018.
To ensure the success of this great endeavor in a typically noisy and challenging environment, El Sewedy EMG is capitalizing on its understanding of best practices in the region, utilizing reliable PRIME 1.4 PLC (the first such large-scale implementation worldwide) as the main communication technology in its allocated deployment areas.
